You don’t mind being admired? I design clothes for women who want to look great and stylish. Without being overdressed, wherever they are. At work, at a party, a concert or your own wedding. Or that of your son or daughter. Do you fancy having a cocktail dress for that party at an art gallery, or a made-to-measure suit for a business presentation? Or do you just want to know you’re looking great while strolling through town or sitting in a pavement café?

The clothes I make are just that bit different – and always beautiful! The great quality of the fabrics of natural fibres I use, show my designs to their best advantage. And whenever possible I use fabrics that have been made in an environment-friendly manner.

Fashion that outlasts the fashion

Would you like to have a fantastic dress that lasts longer than just the one season? My strong designs stay modern because of their clear lines and ageless proportions.

How do you want to be seen? As original and arty? As businesslike and dependable? Tough but still feminine? Or easygoing and carefree? I’ll make you something great, whatever your image!

Mail me or call me and we’ll see what I can do for you. I’ll take your measurements and we’ll discuss the occasion where you’ll be wanting  to wear the dress or the suit. From your build, I’ll work out the best proportions for you, to show you off to your best advantage. You can either let me create something for you from scratch, choose an existing design or tell me your own ideas.

Tailor made

And then I get to work. I’ll make a standard model, to check the measurements. I’ll draw designs and choose possible fabrics. We’ll discuss those. Then, from the chosen design, I’ll make a ‘toile’, a dress of simple cotton, so you get a good idea of what the dress will look like. That may seem superfluous, but I’ve found people have difficulty visualizing the design otherwise. Now we can easily adapt the design to your taste, perhaps alter the sleeves, widen the dress or make it slinkier, that sort of thing. Alright, ‘bespoke’ clothes take their time to make, but then you’ll have something you love and which is absolutely unique.

It started off as a hobby, turned into true passion and is now a unique range of clothing for anyone who loves beautiful things.

For years, I’d been designing and sewing clothes for myself and my friends. I would often be asked where these lovely things could be bought. So now I’m designing for anyone who cares for beauty, for you!

It took a while before I worked up the courage and ventured out as a dress designer. I am, actually, a lawyer and I worked as a legal adviser for years. Which was alright, but I was hardly unique in that profession. But now I feel that, in my designs, I can make a difference, create something uniquely my own – and hope there will be others who think it beautiful, too!

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS

Q: Will the dress or the suit be made completely to measure?

A: Yes, I will take more than 25 measurements! Then I’ll make a standard trial dress of simple cotton (a ‘toile’), to check the fit. After we’ve chosen the design, I’ll make yet another ‘toile’ of the dress as it will be. That will enable you to see whether the design is all you hoped for.

Q: Will the sewing be to couture quality?

A: Certainly. The seamstress who executes the designs for me also works for several well-known designers. Very carefully and with great passion!

Q: What types of fabric do you use?

A: Natural fibres almost exclusively, with at most a small percentage of synthetic thread, to insure durability or stretch, for instance. And whenever possible I use fabrics that are made in an environment-friendly manner.

My favourite fabrics for summer are silk and linnen, and for winter I use mostly silks and woollens.

Q: What will it cost?

A: That’ll vary quite a bit with the different designs: how intricate is it? But in general a dress will come to some 750 euro’s and a jacket to 500.
